Yes.

Some of this started when I was in graduate school. Mind you, direct short to the point…Zinser is on my book shelf. I am sure both Derrida and Foucault are spinning in their graves. Though they were French, so a tad more verbose.

I learned Queens English, or is it now King’s English? It’s not just the extra Us…it’s more verbose. I learned Spanish as a kid…some can be more verbose. I had to break some real bad habits, as far as the US is concerned.

We are not teaching kids how to write, let alone how to think.
