When we lost Connie, our sun conure, she left an empty hole. We know we cannot, responsibly, get another parrot. They tend to live LLLOONNNGGG lives, and they are very intelligent. We also know they mourn.

So we decided to get a dog, why? As crazy as this sounds, they are easier to rehome if need be. However, we discovered the dog we got had issues, and I am allergic to them. So will find out how allergic. Once we do, we will decide whether to get a hypoallergenic pooch or get a budgie, that will be less likely to outlive us.

Like you, I hate to come home to an empty house and not have my FID squak at me. and join us for dinner. Nor beg for her breakfast. And grieving for them is quite normal. It is not a cat or a bird, it is a family member.
