Well, honey, I visit Mexico regularly. Yes the brands are there, but Mexicans are not Americans, sorry to disappoint. They are extremely proud of a history going back about, it changes depending on what is found, over 20,000 years into the past. Reading, writing, agriculture and architecture are also much older than oh, Russia. They go back about ten thousand years with the rise of agriculture. The first evidence of well, temples, about eight thousand years. There is no destruction, systematic mind you, of Spanish, or the other 62 first peoples languages. In fact, Maya is the second spoken language.

Yes, people learn English, what part of lingua Franca of business did you miss?

I mention Mexico, because it’s right on the border, like oh Ukraine is on the border of Russia.

There is absolutely no effort to destroy Mexico from the US. It is not government policy. There are some racists who would in a New York minute, but it’s not policy. The destruction of Ukraine is the Kremlin’s policy.

Now there are some local policies that go to the colonial period that are questionable, but that’s not the US. These go back to the Spanish period. And it would be good if Mexico faced to those ghosts, and in some ways it is. Why some textbooks are produced in those exact 62 languages. But people are still encouraged to learn Spanish, to function in the wider society. Truth be told, there are people in Mexico that only speak Zapotec, for example.

It would be good for Russians if they faced their own colonial past. Incidentally. I saw on telegram a granny advocate for the full genocide of Ukrainians, to the last baby. This war is not just Putin. It’s time for Russia and Russians to stop The whataboutism and face their own less than nice past (and present.)

And to realize, as a few of your own people wrote in the 19th century, that Russia has little of its own culture. It borrowed from everywhere. That’s fine by the way. You know what other culture precedes yours? Oh yes, Kyiv.
