We Need To Talk Tucker Carlson Again

Tucker Carlson is a regular on Russian propaganda. His constant attacks on American Democracy and democratic norms are right in line with what Russia believes. We have entered a post-modern, post-democratic age, where might makes right.

Why is Russia a model for people on the far right? While Russia is hardly a white nation, they portray themselves as such. It’s a society that hates democracy, even if they pretend to follow some democratic norms.

Remember what Joseph Stalin said about votes. I will paraphrase. It does not matter who votes, but who counts the votes. Republicans are quickly moving in this direction. This is why they want to capture the engine of elections with Secretaries of State.

Russia is a state that ideologically moved into a form of oligarchic rule where few control everything, rob the state of its funds, and the rest are poor. It’s also a state where the secret police control all forms of dissent.

This is the model many on the far-right look forwards to imposing on the United States. You could argue that some of this is very American, going back to the early nineteenth century. Before the reforms under Andrew Jackson, voting was limited only to white males who owned property. Some, like the Koch’s, would love this.
