Edited to add more evidence.

American media has the bad habit of always framing issues as both sides. It also tends to talk of balanced news and the idea of objectivity. The theory is nice. Give all sides in a disagreement a hearing. All get their day in the sun. This sort of works when disagreements are not that serious, and everybody agrees on the facts of the matter. This was the case over the 1950s all the 1990s. Members of both parties agreed on the base facts, and the disagreement was on how to deal with issues.

All this started to change in the 1980s, but it was obvious by the 1990s. The party of Reagan slowly transformed itself into an openly fascist party, favoring economic elites. This is not just cutting taxes for the very wealthy, or regulations for that matter. There was something different in how Newt Gingrich spoke of these issues. It was closer to the kind of patronage that exists in dysfunctional, proto-fascist societies.

We took a critical step towards a fully fascist society when the Supreme Court refused to do anything about the Texas abortion case. Remember, everything the Nazis did was legal. One thing that was done was to capture the courts. A second step was taken the other day as well. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell block any of Joe Biden’s candidates to the high court.

Tonight the Wall Street Journal ran this piece that reveals the corruption is far worse. This should not surprise any student of fascist systems. Corruption is a symptom
