The State of the Union was one strange speech. On the one hand, we heard echoes of Peggy Noonan’s speech writing, without the Ronald Reagan delivery. The Paeans for World War Two and the landing at Normandy were reminiscent of Reagan’s allusions. With a better deliverer, they may have even been inspirational.
