After Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 I came out and said it: Russia was going to break up. It’s an Empire with internal colonies that serve the state in a myriad of ways. One of them is as troops for all foreign, and internal, adventures.

The manning of the army is not universal. The well-to-do White Russians in Moscow and St Petersburg always find ways out of service. There is a literal epidemic of bone spurs and other maladies that prevent the well-connected, or at least middle class, from doing a stint of mandatory service.

I should note, that economic drafts are not limited to the Federation, but theirs is extreme.

These colonies are purposely kept poor, with no running water, and dirt roads that clog during the season of mud. There is more. School is full-on Russification, where the only thing that matters is Russia, the myth of Russia. The Duma has passed a controversial law that says its goal is to preserve indigenous languages, there is more to it.

The Russian parliament’s lower chamber, the State Duma, has approved in its third and final reading a controversial bill that would allow the government to regulate the basic pillars of minority languages in the country, including indigenous ethnic groups from Siberia and the Far East.
