The Party of Death

When one looks at what Republicans, their allies in far-right Christian denominations, like evangelicals, and a few PACS want, the conclusion is hard to avoid. This is a Party of Death.

Yet another school shooting was yet another example of this. We had a bunch of members of Congress, yes they have the power to change the dynamic, and cry us a river. They also used the same exact words they always do: “Thoughts and prayers.”

It’s like they theoretically have the power to do something with legislation, but collectively they gave up on this. It’s not the second amendment. They would find another excuse if need be. After all, even saintly Heller has some limits. But they don’t care.

Here, before you say, but Heller.

Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms.
