(The memes are hardly an endorsement of Q, or conspiracy thinking.)
By now you probably have heard of the “doctors” who promoted the President’s favorite malaria drug. I use the term doctor loosely since one of the people in the presser actually said that a cause of COVID was sex with aliens and alien DNA. This would be any day ending in Y in conspiracy America, but both the president and his son shared this. By the way, the group is at least one degree removed from the Koch brothers, via Tea Party Patriots.
According to News Facts Network:
America’s Frontline Doctors does not disclose ownership or sponsorship. While we are unable to find concrete evidence of ownership, there are indications they may be affiliated with the Tea Party Patriots as they broadcast their event live. Further, it appears the founder, Dr. Simone Gold is working directly with the Tea Party Patriots as evidenced here: “Many Americans are avoiding or delaying routine medical care out of fear of contracting the virus, Gold said. They’re working with Tea Party Patriots Action to get their message out, she said.”
This is another episode of let’s open the country no matter the consequences. The Koch brothers and other dark money outfits were also partially involved in the open states narrative, which was fairly successful from their perspective. The pressure put on states meant that governors rushed to open, some faster than others, and now 150,000 Americans are dead and cases of COVID continue to climb.
One of the tools used by these libertarian radicals is one that makes little sense. If they truly want the economy to open the data is in. Masks work and can help a nation open up, safely. However, they are not just joining with the radical right in rejecting masks, but now are engaging in magical thinking and trying to skirt the scientific research that will solve this crisis. The video was shared by the President. According to The Hill:
A Houston doctor who made false statements about the coronavirus in a video that was removed from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube this week has previously made other unfounded claims about medical conditions, sexual contact with spirits, the U.S. government, children’s television shows and more.
Stella Immanuel appeared in a video this week published by the right-wing outlet Breitbart News.
The video shows people in white lab coats holding a press conference in front of the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. The group calls itself “America’s Frontline Doctors,” and in the video, Immanuel argues that “you don’t need masks” to prevent the spread of COVID-19. She also claims that studies showing that hydroxychloroquine is not effective for treating the disease are “fake science” and sponsored by “fake pharma companies.”
President Trump posted versions of the video on Twitter on Monday; they were later removed by the social media site. The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., also tweeted the video, and Twitter announced that it has limited his account for 12 hours.
The video was one serving of crazy. And it has gone viral with the intended target, that is before it was taken down. These people are now accusing large media companies of censorship, but the video is dangerous. Let’s be clear on this. The radical right and the president are obsessed with magical thinking regarding COVID, and in the case of the Koch brothers, climate change. Science is not something they care for. Expertise is not what they seek. And the damage to the economy continues to deepen.
which brings me in particular to mask deniers, which that video had in spades. These people are sure masks don’t work. They also are illegal, violate their rights, and they refuse to wear them. They spout nonsense about their rights to do as they wish, and the oppression of the government. I am sure you have heard them tell you how masks are an affront to their sense of being and training for the coming tyranny. A few will even go on and on as to how masks violate their religious beliefs. This last one comes via the Book of Genesis, and how humans are made in the image of God. They apparently forgot Isaiah’s he who saves one life saves the world, but who am I to judge?
Then there are the ones who argue that masks are muzzles, and prevent them from exercising their free speech. Then there are a few who will go on about how carbon monoxide, (wrong gas it would be CO2) concentrates on the masks to unhealthy levels. They even have audio they share, where they used a sensor inside a mask. Fun fact, what measures these unhealthy levels in the human body is an oximeter, and no, oxygen in blood wearing a mask does not drop. If it did, surgeons and surgical nurses would have serious issues.
What these are relying on is ignorance. A few will even tell you, they are coming for your freedoms and will force people to take the vaccine because that way people will be chipped. The masks are just the first step for this state overreach. if you want an idea of how this would work, watch CSI. The way they portray it in the program is accurate to the theory. Let’s be clear, police agencies do not have that ability either technologically or legally, but they could do it, if the technology existed, after obtaining a warrant, and they do use historic cell phone records, which allow them to see the historical pinging of your phone on cell towers as you move around a city. This is how they can place you at a time and place if need be during an investigation. It’s a policy tool, and this made it to the Supreme Court. In 2017 in Carpenter v United States the Supreme Court found that:
Over 40 years ago, the Supreme Court outlined what has come to be known as the “third-party doctrine” — the idea that the Fourth Amendment does not protect records or information that someone voluntarily shares with someone or something else. Today the Supreme Court ruled that, despite this doctrine, police will generally need to get a warrant to obtain cell-site location information, a record of the cell towers (or other sites) with which a cellphone connected. In an opinion by Chief Justice John Roberts, the five-justice majority pointed to “seismic shifts in digital technology,” which have allowed wireless carriers to collect “deeply revealing” information about cellphone owners that should be protected by the Constitution. Roberts characterized the ruling as a narrow one; indeed, the majority at least left open the prospect that police might not need a warrant to get information about where someone was on the day that a crime was committed. But the decision still drew sharp criticism from the dissenting justices, who complained that it is likely to imperil, in the words of Justice Samuel Alito, “many legitimate and valuable investigative practices on which law enforcement has rightfully come to rely.”
This is critical for your privacy. The courts have limited the ability of the state to track you, So if they injected you with a tracking device, they have no authority short of a warrant, to use it. And why bother with that when your cell phone already is doing this. However, the raw mass cell phone data is accessible for other uses, which are hardly criminal or will hardly track a specific individual.
This raw data is what epidemiological modelers are using to track mass movements of people. It’s useful to see both to the compliance of stay at home orders and use that data in death rate modeling for the virus. This and other factors are used by the University of Washington models, for example. It is a very blunt tool, but it is useful in the midst of a pandemic.
So if you think that you will be tracked, you are already being tracked. Get rid of that cell phone. The good news is that in order for you to be actually tracked, the police need a probable cause and a warrant, and due to the firehose of data, isolating your phone will not easy. In fact, it is increasingly hard to do since more and more cell phones are flooding the zone with data. So this is very hard to do in real-time, why police detectives rely on cell phone pinging data. Facts are pesky, but they never get in the way of the conspiracy-minded.
Then there is another theory about this, pushed hard by Qannnon fans, as well as others in the right. One of the most popular is that masks are a way to train people to accept state mandates. This is a way to steal your freedom. This is not just the fringe in the world of Q Drops, It is also part of the far-right mainstream calculations. In a previous iteration of this idiocy, seat belts were portrayed the same way and some memes refer to this. The Federalists ran this regarding masks for example:
If we want to marginally improve our lives, we will submit. The masks aren’t the endgame. The point of the masks is to teach the American people that if we want to get some sense of normal, we have to accept abnormality.
If everyone is wearing a mask, it telegraphs a society-wide acceptance that the status quo has changed, and with that consensus other changes can come, too. Society will be primed to accept measures that most normal Americans would reject in any other time. Our new normal will include a permanent expansion of the bureaucracy and alarming new COVID-related regulations
This is where we are. Masks are not about public health. They are an unprecedented attack on the body politic and the nation. This is about social control, and it will be followed by mandatory vaccines and socialism. It is statism, and nazi like behavior, leading to marxism…and the glorious communist revolution that the far left wants.
If your head is done spinning, the end goal is not even the glorious Marxist revolution that the far right has been warning since the days of the John Birchers and Senator Joseph McCarthy. This is the new world order, where black helicopters play a role, and the United Nations will take away all the rights of Americans.
Some of the memes are extremely sophisticated and have the stink of a state actor propaganda shop. They play on the idea that this is the rise of nazis in our midst who will run this new world order. These people are far-left Marxists, Nazis, and socialists never mind actual nazis do exist and have become very active in the last four years.
These ideas are exploited by factory trolls and internet bots, that knows us better than we know ourselves. They are also exploiting the fact that the President of the United States keeps pushing conspiracy theories and refuses to wear a mask. He is feeding the anti-science vaccine skeptics as well as the anti-mask movement. Let’s be clear about this, We are not talking anymore of a conservative moment with riots in the Enlightenment. This is a total retreat from the Enlightenment and the rise of a new age of witches and warlocks. They hate education and secularism and believe it will be the end of the nation as we know it. Never mind the United States is the product of the rights of man and the Enlightenment.
Q and other actors in the conspiracy-laden far-right were part of the fringe for most of the 20th century. While Q is of far more modern origin, going to the 2010s, and coinciding with the rise of the birther conspiracy, it traffics in many ideas common to the fringe. There are some things specific to Q that make this writer wonder about the real identity of Q, but I digress. The fact is that Q in particular traffics in a lot of the memes that you and I are familiar with if you pay attention to your crazy uncle.
How Do You Deal with This?
First. Understand that these people are self recruited into a digital army,. They are told that they need to fight the rest of us because everything is at stake. They are also told to trust no one in the government, because of the deep state. Experts and elites are problems. They engage in grievance politics laced with fear.
It is critical to challenge them online, where they were told to go flood the zone with this, They are at war with normies, meaning the rest of us. You will not change the views of a hardcore Q member, or far-right member. They took the red pill already and they know the truth, which is out there. But this is not about them. One reason cults grow is that the rest of us remain silent, unbelieving, and shocked.
A few things when you engage them. More than a few are bots. We know this by now and some of the social media giants are now doing something about this. Some, a good question of how many, are posting from foreign troll farms. Usually, they are in places like Russia, and they know Americans and what wedges to push far better than we know ourselves. Both of these are part of a very sophisticated hybrid warfare campaign and we all are on the front lines.
Some are Americans, who for a shifting series of reasons want to push these things to the wild. Some are victims of this hybrid warfare campaign. Some are afraid of a changing society, and some are getting rich out of this. A few are desperate to open the economy and have to recruit all these people in astroturf campaigns. A lot of this is not organic, so be aware that you may be engaging a troll or a bot.
