The End of the War and Medvedev

First, I need to point out why Russian nationalists expect the Russification of Ukraine to take forever. They are also assuming they will defeat the main adversary. No, it's not Ukraine; it is the United States. So with no further, a good summary.

I read recently that the denazification of the Germans, which began to be carried out immediately after the defeat of Germany, in 1945, had an effect only by the 60–70s. Even after 10 years, the ideas and spirit of renovating ressentiment were very popular. Firstly, the post-war devastation, and secondly, the active majority of citizens from even those generations who lived under the Nazis at the time when the Nazis pulled Germany out of the swamp of the post-war crisis, before the Second World War and really raised the standard of living. Only after the Marshall Plan began to have a tangible effect in the form of an improvement in living standards, and after a generational change, did a paradigm shift from ressentiment to denazification become realistically possible.

He does have a point with this. It is a very good point. It also tells us why older Russians are all in favor of Putinism. They grew up in a police state, where denunciations, show trials, and other sundries of the state were common. They are comfortable in a police state.

The youth is not. Not only did they grow up in a more democratic Russia until about 2012, but they became a more economically prosperous Russia. If you were in places like Moscow and St Petersburg and went to University, you had…
