The Conservadems v Progressives
Fair is fair, after looking at Donald Trump’s base, I need to turn the magnifying glass on the other party. Unlike the GOP, where Trump takes all the oxygen out of the room, there is an excellent discussion with Democrats. There once was within the GOP, but until they decide to change that, it’s the party of Trump.
So let’s turn to Democrats, shall we?
In a multiparty democracy, these two factions would not be part of a single party, so we are clear. Functionally the party has two internal parties vying for dominance. Not just that, but there is a regional difference in which side is dominant. So this is why a Democrat from a rural county in the Midwest looks very different from a Democrat from, oh, New York City.
So who are the major factions in the Democratic Party?
The party has two main factions. One is the Conservadems, who tend to concentrate in the south, and rural areas. They are less union-friendly and considerably more business-friendly. They echo the tough-on-crime of the GOP but tend to be far more socially liberal.
