That is under debate even in Syria. You mentioned the grandmother and the child…it was rental property. They refused to sell. The debate is whether it was covered under the Viena convention, aka a diplomatic facility, or not.

Given Iran has attacked an American embassy in 1979 and blew the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires to hell with a car bomb. They also destroyed the Jewish community center.

But I have been following that debate. Unfortunately our media is really bad about things like this.
