Take into account, I also follow the food industry. And they do not like that people are starting to read labels and leave processed foods behind.
Yes, anxiety is a mental health issue. But from their pov people buying brócoli and avoiding maltodrextin (it raises blood sugars worst than table sugar) is a problem from a profit perspective.
So they would love to classify anybody who reads labels, whether it’s mom with baby, a diabetic, or somebody trying to get to the perfect ratio of macros and crazy anxious about the ratio of carbs, fat and protein as not well.
This is a profit thing. If mom decides that juice is not good for baby (and from medical lit it’s terrible) and this is in millions, there goes a lot of profit.
Just offering this as well. Because orthorexia is a new disorder. And I get nervous when an industry is desperate to name things that affect their bottom line.
That some folks need mental health is true. That EDs are real, yes. If you have a history of them IF and calorie counting are a no-no.
But, caution.
And when I read your list I found myself going, yes, to more than a few. But there are literal health consequences.
Funny story
At my nieces wedding at a fine restaurant we asked the wait staff to bring a salad without croutons because gluten. They also told us tamales had it they are usually made with just masa but some northern Mexico recipes add flour. So sure.
When they brought back a salad without the carrots because they have gluten I knew I was in trouble.
Thankfully the piece of meat without sauce and grilled veggies were fine. But I considered just having a protein bar. This is real life. Recently for a Christmas get together I had just a few raw veggies. I know my reality and live with it and don’t impose on people.
