Russification and the Offensive Again…

Russia is not a mystery if you understand its long trends. Russia is an empire, a dying one, but still an empire. If not in reality, in the mythic space. This is the heart of Putinism, the return of Russia as a great power within the concert of nations.

This concept goes to the 19th century, if not earlier. This explains why Russia is desperate for land. The further out from the heart of the empire, the safer it is for Moscow. So, we enter into the absorption of populations into the empire. The post below is a common pattern going back centuries:

They did not believe me, they asked me again. Russian schools were closed, Russian was made a second foreign language, teachers worked half-time or less. Parents hired tutors to teach written Russian to their children.
