Russian Point of View
As the messaging goes back and forth, we should look at the view from some. These are the folks who know Vladimir Putin best. These are Russians. Mind you, what the Ukrainian team did the other day in Saudi Arabia was brilliant.
So here is the take from Important Stories. I think their look into the abyss is worth reading:
Putin does not need peace. Russia’s top brass is showing by all means that it wants the war to continue and is ready to abandon the truce
Presidential aide Maksym Ushakov stated that “Steps that imitate peaceful actions in Ukraine are of no use to anyone,” and the ceasefire regime proposed to Russia is “nothing more than a temporary respite for the Ukrainian military.” Although Ushakov noted that “the statement about the ceasefire is his personal position,” his words continue the chain of demonstratively militaristic actions by the Russian leadership.
