Russia Jumps into 1984
Two posts today in Rusbrief made me think back to 1984. On the surface, it may seem to be a response to the pogrom in Dagestan. But it’s far more than just that. The two are part of a more extensive post; Telegram has a limit on how long the posts are.

Russian universities will train “media police,” although they can even be called “morality police.” So far it is said that they will look for prohibited content — from insulting believers to calls for riots, as well as pirated content.At the same time, the State Duma continues (I would like to note, not that successfully) to fight for the morals of young people, introducing responsibility for trash streams.
In this regard, firstly, I recall a situation when a number of sensible people and I talked with the ONF, explaining that Article 282 should be at least partially decriminalized, that responsibility for a word does not equal responsibility for an action, that the concept of extremism is extremely vague, that in Russian legislation and in the Shanghai Convention this is defined differently, which must be based on whether there were any consequences from the statements or not, and so on.
