Revisiting the ZNPP and other issues.
First we need to revisit the nuclear plant, because it’s a global security issue. The International Atomic Energy Agency was given access, but not full access. To be specific, not to the roof which Ukraine said had packages on, and civilian satellites noted.
So here is the statement, and I am an admirer of the diplomacy of the Director. He really knows how to call people out while being nice. That’s a skill:
“I think we have made progress,” said IAEA head Rafael Grossi after the Russians let his delegation look at the cooling pools of the Zaporozhye NPP. According to him, IAEA inspectors found “no signs of explosives or mines in these places.” At the same time, Grossi specified that the UN monitoring group was never allowed on the roof of the ZNPP.
It matches with the declarations that the risk has lessened. This matters, though we may know some of the reasons for the threats. The first is that it seems the Russians located two Ukrainian Corps. I will leave it at that. But it was on Rossya 1.
The second is the NATO summit in Vilnius. It starts on July 11. The threat has not changed any plans. So will they blow it? I am lowering my assessment to unlikely at this time. Mostly, way too many eyes, and nobody believes them.
