Per Ukraine data, we went over 300,000 casualties the other day. Russia denies that they are having a problem recruiting contract soldiers. However, then we learn they are expanding the use of convicts.

This did not surprise me in the least. Russia is still looking to win, or at least some are. So, using penal battalions are as old as the Romanov Empire. So why not go back to that more intensely? Plus, Z-Storm units worked well for Wagner, so why not?

Russia has introduced “special military registration” for prisoners

The government excluded the subclause in the regulation on military registration, which stated that prisoners in correctional institutions are not subject to military registration.

The new norm introduces the concept of “special military registration” — now those serving sentences will be assigned to special military registration and enlistment offices at correctional colonies and pre-trial detention centers. They will be registered with the military without personal appearance. It also does not require a medical examination, medical examination or psychological selection.

We are also still seeing questions about the future of Wagner. This is interesting since rumors go back and forth about joining the National Guard. What we do have is a concern about Wagner in Siria and the current conflict. Speaking of that:

US concerned Hezbollah could get air defense system from Wagner Group.
