On Information Warfare

Today, Hamas dropped two pieces of propaganda that are textbooks of the principle of information warfare and why we don’t know how to fight it. By the way, Russians do the same all the freaking time. So, I am using these from Hamas to illustrate a principle of information warfare that you need to understand. I will also use a Russian piece as well.

As we get deeper into election season, we will get more of this fun because there are multiple efforts to co-opt the West from a few parties. And yes, cognitive dissonance will play a role when you put these two aside.

So let me first give you the message from a Hamas fighter in Rafah. He seems to be inside a tunnel, confirming the claim by Israelis that there are tunnels. In other words, come and get us.

Russians do something similar often, by the way. I recommend you watch it. It’s translated, it’s short, unlike the Russian ones, and there is a target for this. This one is less than two minutes long, unlike Russian productions, which are very long.

So, who is the target of this one? Well, it’s not Benjamin Netanyahu. There is no way in modern warfare he will suit up and join his old outfit and lead the way. It’s partially the IDF soldiers, but primarily, this bravado is directed at both the Arab world and College students in the West.
