My only but with this is CICO. You referred to it with the hormones, that is where research is going.
I lost 60 pounds, could use another 20, but right now I am at set-point. And it will take time for that to reset again. However, CICO did not work. I got the logs. What worked was paying attention to low glycemic foods and hormones.
My sudden climb, which took decades to get off came from medication with that as a well-known side effect. But really, the only thing that worked, and in the beginning was accidental, was an LCHF diet...because of hormones leptin and insulin.
This is where research is moving and like tobacco (the industry knows, there is a damn paper trail) added sugar in industrial food is indeed addictive.
But apart of that big but, I am with you.
However, you should know why diets fail at 95 to 98 percent, depends who you read. And accept that one reason we are where we are is the food industry, just like tobacco, and the war on fat from the 1960s on. It literally set the stage for the pandemic. When you have literally more people overweight to obese globally than starving, it should make you realize this is beyond the individual, but it is behaving like a pandemic.
In fact, the WHO is calling it one now.
And if this makes you feel better, overweight and obese people pay more for insurance. At this point, insurance companies are starting to do the same with COVID deniers and they do this for tobacco and alcohol use.
