Moscow
Over the last forty-eight hours, Ukraine has hit a specific building twice. Mind you, it’s in an expensive area of town, but no, they are not hitting it because it’s a civilian target and will bring a taste of their own medicine to Russian (well-connected) civilians. This is just a side benefit.
This is the IQ building, and it houses up to seven ministries. It’s essentially a mixed-use building. It does have some civilian office space. It’s the ministries that were the targets of this.
Overnight one of the three city airports also had a ground stop:
The work of Vnukovo airport has been temporarily suspended, planes are being redirected to other airports, — Moscow emergency services.
Moscow Mayor Sobyanin said that the damage was done to the facade on the 21st floor, and not on the 17th.
It is related because it was announced after the two drones struck the building.
Now here is what matters. We know Russia has installed some air defense systems around the capital. Famously a Pantsir was placed on top of the Ministry of Defense at some point. The fact that Ukrainian drones penetrated this airspace twice over two nights will have a psychological effect. It again betrays the weakness of Russia.
This is how one of the Ukrainian channels is describing this. There is some victory lap…
