Madison Cawthorne and Dark MAGA

Congressman Madison Cawthorne lost his primary and now has vowed to go “Dark MAGA” on all of us. It may sound cute, perhaps even deranged. It is neither. This is a full embrace of Fascism. He just told us who he is.

In short, the soon-to-be ex-member of Congress is no fan of democratic norms. He is openly fascist, just like Marjorie Tailor Greene and a few others in Congress.

His post on Telegram was not meant for the wider society that is in favor of an open democratic society. This is meant for the QAnon wing of American politics, as well as the white supremacists who at times carry out attacks, to stop what they believe is happening. He is a man who believes in white replacement. Soon he may even find a perch for his toxic views in places like Tucker Carlson’s Fox show.

The post itself sounds funny if you are looking in. It’s not, and underestimating this is dangerous. This is a movement that may not be even close to a large minority. However, they are extremely mobilized, with a structure of communications that allows for this toxic fascism to spread.

This includes QAnon telegram channels, 4chan, Stormfront, Breitbart, and Fox News. No, at this point there is no difference between any of these channels. Why? Because the ideology is spread across these different means.
