Look today we learned that the FBI had a close relationship with Twitter.

If you have ever covered the courts you will know this is like standard. So no, it’s not good journalism. I read the tweeter feed today and was literally laughing. Because, I have covered courts.

So the previous owners did this thing called…checks notes, moderation. They did ban people. You may disagree to the bans, but once again, it’s not the first amendment. It’s not the public square. But damn, Taibi went into how much the FBI works hard in hand…yes they do. If you threaten to go shoot a temple, for example, toando chiefly you do it (most extreme and obvious example) LEOs will send preservation letters. It’s like fracking standard.

Insert media company usually freezes the account and saves all that for detectives. Why we media rush to try to get some screen grabs before those accounts disappear from the public side of a service.

What happens to that? Well, usually it’s used to build a case if indeed your insert post here, are relevant.

This is the easiest and most transparent. There is a whole slew of things that can lead to preservation letters. They range from outright hate crimes, or threats to white crime, fraud and yes, disinformation. I am betting Taibi will pretend not to know what hybrid warfare is.

But yes, ultimately, if Musk decides to ban everybody but his dear friends tomorrow, he can do that. So could the previous owners.

Now he is about to encounter European laws, where yes, he can ban the press, but he might be fined. Different laws, and we are at the find out stage of the exercise.
