Do you know how you can tell when a Republican is not expecting to win? When he says, before any ballot is counted, that the election is rigged. Now, this is exactly what former President Donald Trump did as well. This is the big lie abs it is a direct attack on our Democratic system.

This is part of an authoritarian trend, and attacks against liberal democracy. The far-right, of which Elder is part, does not believe in democracy. They believe in raw power.

For some people this is funny. But none of this is. This has become part of the deep grievance, at times race-based, politics. It can, and already has led to violence. Why? You have a significant minority that has given up on the process. Yes, there are people who are not voting already because they will steal it anyway, why bother? This level of grievance means that if you feel completely disenfranchised, there are a few things you can do. Some involve leaving society and forming right-wing communities. This is already happening, to a degree.

This will be easier to do in rural areas, which are Republican and far-right strongholds. I make the distinction, since not all Republicans are far-right, and vice-versa. Some of the far-right have remained outside politics since they have never believed it relevant to their lives. If you want to live apart from the system, voting seems contradictory.
