This morning, I woke up to this. It was one hell of an announcement. Russians are heading towards a withdrawal. It’s rugged terrain to defend. But it does seem the forcing of the Dnipro has worked. So here is the announcement through Pravda Gerashenko on Twitter about a coming withdrawal. There are plenty of others.
In the morning, Russian state media announced that Russian troops have been “regrouped” near Dnipro river (temporarily occupied part of Ukraine). They claimed that troops have retreated to “more favorable positions to the East.”
Several minutes later, the media have deleted the news: “The news… is ANNULLED like one that has been published by mistake. We apologize to our followers and readers,” TASS agency wrote.
Some Russian Telegram channels have quickly reported that the news about the troops that retreated has a “Ukrainian trace”. However, other credible sources report that the news was indeed true but now the Russian ministry of defense ordered those troops to “stand till the end”.
Will we see another “goodwill gesture”?
Well, this is the code for retreat. And for the last two weeks, we have seen more operations with Ukrainian forces crossing the Dnipro. How far will Russia withdraw? It’s a good question. But that means the offensive did not fully culminate. Ukraine posed many problems…
