Kherson: An Upcoming Humanitarian Disaster?
If you thought the war was bad, it could get worse. Russia is forcibly transferring civilians across the river. Those people will likely end up in the Federation. The forced removal of large populations is as old as Russification.
Many rumors are going around now that the offensive in Kherson is closing to the city proper. The first, from two days ago, was that the Federation intended Kherson to become a Fortress City:
Kherson will become a kind of Russian military base for a new offensive campaign. A kind of “gambit” will take place, when the President’s Office will throw all its forces, run into the “breakwaters”, incur losses and receive a counterattack. The accent is to cut off the Nikolaev-Odessa region from Ukraine with access to the PMR/Moldovan borders”.

During the Second World War, both Germany and Russia did this. Get a city, man, it with personnel, order no withdrawal. The theory was to slow down the enemy force. It’s easy to overcome this. Bypass it, surround it, and they will surrender when hungry enough.
Russia assaulted fortress cities during the Second World War. See for example Budapest, which was taken after 102 days. It was destroyed since the Red Army did not keep the artillery out of this, for example.
