If you want to reverse diabetes or pre- diabetes, you need to lose weight. No ifs or but’s. It’s the two compartment theory of intra-organ fat.
The same goes for the rest of the metabolic syndrome.
Be intelligent. Do it in a sustainable manner. Change how you think about food.
You did not gain overnight (ok I could argue that. Side effect of a med) but you will not lose overnight either. I eat to satiety. I cook every day. No Franken foods. And rarely, less than once a quarter, go out for dinner.
This is what I need to do for my health and to keep my toes, kidneys, vision and mind. Ok, no cakes. Not even for birthday. I am good.
