If I may provide a caveat to the caveat. The events of 1789 are unique to the period. The patterns are not. So in that sense history can provide a guide. And the talk of revolution, for the momemt peaceful, is there. Occupy was one of those trend markers. So is the desperation in rural areas, and the very real urban-rural divide.

The problem is that we humans are very bad at noticing patterns until they are in the rear view. And we have to add the climate emergency which will provide increasing points of pressure.
