I have the feeling that the next president will likely be a mid level bureaucrat none of us has heard off, assuming Russia remains one nation. Incidentally, I just described Putin in 1999. Granted, as vice mayor of Leningrad, now St Petersburg, he was not quite mid level, but was mostly unknown in the West. Those who knew him were in the business community doing business in the city.
