First, let me start with some breaking news, or more like a sort of breaking, since the ship was boarded on Saturday:

France has detained the Boracay oil tanker, part of Russia’s shadow fleet.

The vessel is subject to UK and EU sanctions against Russia.

In early 2025, it was detained in Estonia — at the time, it was called the Kiwala. Estonian Navy found 40 deficiencies, including sailing without a valid national flag. After the vessel rectified these violations, Estonian authorities released it.

A French prosecutor said an investigation was launched after the crew failed to provide proof of the vessel’s nationality and disobeyed orders. The tanker is currently anchored near the northwest coast of France.

There is more, because there is always more. And it gives the impression that we are seeking a valid casus belli, a cause for war. In democracies, citizens who believe in the cause matter.

Let me quote this channel, because if true, the implications are severe. Then we will look at the Russian explanation:

🚨BREAKING — At least 2 Russian crew members from the seized Russian oil tanker are active suspects of flying military grade drones over Denmark, Germany & Sweden.
