Winter is the time that flu spreads among populations. This is not an exception in the Russian Federation. It is expanding the same way it is in North America or Europe. Less masking or human distancing is helping this annual virus to spread. So is the fact that people are tired of the pandemic and vaccines.

This is a normal story for any of us since every winter we are warned about the flu and told to get our shots. For the last two years, the flu has been mild because of masking and social distancing. This year it’s been called the Triple Pandemic, between COVID, influenza, and RSV. However, we seem to be seeing an important story emerging in Russia. One that will have direct effects on the war.

This is according to Interfax:

The cold and flu morbidity has grown 35% week-on-week in Russia, while swine flu has been reported in 82 constituent territories, the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said in a statement.

“The cold and flu morbidity is up 35.4% week-on-week. Thirty-seven constituent territories have reported incidence rates higher than Russia’s average,” Rospotrebnadzor’s press service told reporters.
