F-16 Fly in Ukraine
So, the Falcons are officially entering combat. It’s an insignificant moment in this war. It was the same dynamic as when we sent a few HIMARS to Ukraine early in the war.
Like those halcyon days, Russia threatened the West with nuclear annihilation. I don’t know about you; I live on a primary target…as of right now, there are still no mushroom clouds anywhere. So either I live a lucky life, or Russia is full of piss and vinegar, with nothing more than empty threats:
The F-16 story is also important because it once again highlighted that the Kremlin “red lines” are in fact bullshit, which can and should be wiped off. The Russian groom and his stable are great masters of bluff, but at some point the bluff stops working. When the hype subsides and the fact of operating the F-16 becomes commonplace, like the same HIMARS systems or Western tanks, this will allow the West to move on to the next stages of supporting Ukraine, having another trump card in the debate with those who are pushing that Russia is “big and scary” no need to provoke and anger. However, this is the only reason why it is important — to have one more weighty argument in the deck of those who are lobbying in the West for an increase in military assistance to the fighting Ukraine.
