Turkey Earthquake Damage via Twitter

Important update: As of this hour the US is sending two 79-man rescue teams, one to Turkey and one to Syria. Incidentally, Greece is sending aid to Turkey as well. This is important since both countries have had tense relations for a long time.

Natural disasters are usually times for people to unify And work together. It’s also a time to put differences to the side. After all, Mother Nature can be rather humbling. This is why people help when they can.

For the record, this is a significant disaster, and as of this writing, there are over 2000 dead in Turkey and Syria. These were powerful quakes, and especially the aftershock was very close to the surface. Surface quakes tend to be more damaging as well.

Casualties are expected to rise. If you can afford to, give money to a charity to help people in either country. The damage will be extensive. Syria is still in the midst of a civil war.

I want to highlight the reaction of Russians and Ukrainians because it betrays the culture. Here is the way Russians reacted, and to be brutal, they have also applauded the bombing of civilian infrastructure in Ukraine during the war:

Russians rejoiced at the collapse of buildings in Turkey, as a result of which people died

Residents of Russia violently reacted…
