A few things are happening within Russia that speak to the possible end of Vladimir Putin’s hold on power. Will it happen tomorrow? Not necessarily, but there were two things overnight that speak to this.

The first is Yevgeny Prighozin. He has ways of speaking and attracts to his orbit, angry patriots. He may merely be a release valve because the angry patriots are sometimes well-armed. This is via Meduza. And it’s the full piece because it’s that important:

For much of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the outspoken head of the Wagner Group paramilitary cartel Yevgeny Prigozhin has trashed the military leadership in Moscow, carefully but sometimes dangerously flirting with criticisms that might be considered indirect attacks on the Russian president himself. Is Prigozhin Putin’s “anger translator”? Is he acting as some important vent for broader frustrations among Russian combatants? Is he a necessary nuisance to be jettisoned at the first opportunity?
