The police has cleared the square in front of parliament using clubs, tear gas and shields. They now control it. Now we shall see where this goes. People took refuge in the church across. It may be the beginnings of something like Maidan.

And now we hear from Mark Feigin, a liberal Russian politician who is calling for demonstrators to free Mikheil Saakashvili. He is at best a political prisoner.

We call on the protesters in Tbilisi to release Mikheil Saakashvili from prison! Part of the protesters must move to the prison hospital to release Misha! Take action!

Update. No surprise here, Russians are blaming this on my state department:

In Georgia, everything is simple. The US is frightened by the growing influence of Russia, so the green light was given to the protest. The law on foreign agents hits precisely Georgian NGOs, and they are 99% funded by the State Department. It is against him that they rebel. The ruling Georgian Dream party is trying to get out of such dependence on Washington, because the current team in the White House is trying to provoke them into a confrontation with Russia, which clearly does not meet the fundamental interests of the Georgian people.
