So this morning woke up to more solid data on the price of bread in Russia. It’s coming up, and twenty percent is not a minor cost rise for a basic staple. This is according to BAZA:

In autumn, bread in Russia will rise in price by 10%. All because of the exit from the grain deal, the collapse of the ruble and sanctions. Sources among manufacturers from different regions told about this “Base”.

Bread and baked goods prices are expected to skyrocket this fall due to a whole host of problems in the industry. One of the main reasons for the jump in prices, our interlocutors noted Russia’s withdrawal from the grain deal — after this news, the prices for grain and flour crept up both on the world and domestic markets. Therefore, their purchases now cost about 20% more.

Sanctions and the collapse of the ruble also played a role. Because of these two factors, the maintenance of imported equipment has already risen in price by 50% — namely, Russian companies mainly use it. In addition, producers prefer to buy foreign malt and additives (it is believed that they are better than domestic ones), the cost of which has increased by up to 30%. At the same time, due to the exchange rate, the price of packaging also increased.
