As much trouble as the US has…it’s not perfect, it’s now where close to an authoritarian state.

We can fix quite a bit of this. But you *gave up.* It’s precisely when people self demobilize that countries slide. And as bad as our criminal system is, comparing it to the gulag is insane, for example. You can start here:

By 1936 the Gulag held a total of 5,000,000 prisoners, a number that was probably equaled or exceeded every subsequent year until Stalin died in 1953. Besides rich or resistant peasants arrested during collectivization, persons sent to the Gulag included purged Communist Party members and military officers, German and other Axis prisoners of war (during World War II), members of ethnic groups suspected of disloyalty, Soviet soldiers and other citizens who had been taken prisoner or used as slave labourers by the Germans during the war, suspected saboteurs and traitors, dissident intellectuals, ordinary criminals, and many utterly innocent people who were hapless victims of Stalin’s purges.

As I said, when people write what you wrote, I know there is nobody to talk to. You, my acquaintance, are quite privileged. You have the freedom to write this with absolutely no fear. It’s funny, actually.

Unlike you, already disengaged and despolitized, I care about making things better. Gave you two solutions for what you call, well you know what you call it. Instead you make excuses.

Yes, my mind reels at this. I shan’t debate ya. There is nobody to talk to. Seriously.

There are these things called books. I could suggest a few. Or try to find emigres from another era and talk to them.
