Senator Mike Lee Learned about NAFO

First, let me be clear. This is not surprising, but the last 72 hours on X, formerly Twitter, have been very revealing. We are at a critical moment in American politics. When rank antisemitism from American politicians or wanna-be politicians is mainstreamed, you know there is a problem.

This is also one of the fractures that Russian active measures are using. It’s mainstream within the MAGA movement. This is a movement taking over a once-honorable national party. Here is an essential qualifier. Not all Republicans are either isolationist or fascist. But all MAGA Republicans are.

So, let’s start with Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. She said this in the House, then repeated this slur on X. So here is what she said:

“Ukraine is one of the worst countries on the Earth for child sex trafficking and they’re harvesting children’s organs over there.”

Most observers have seen how abhorrent this comment is. Let me tell you, it’s far worse than most observers have conceded. This is blood libel, and it is highly antisemitic. This is also very common with the MAGA crowd, which has made pedophilia and child trafficking central to their form of fascism.

During the weekend, I had a wonderful conversation, assuming you like root canals, with a member of MAGA. He is not a politician. He knows some local politicians. He is the target of this. The meme above echoes precisely what the Congresswoman is saying. This gentleman (no, I will not identify him. We believe after a long conversation that he has mental health issues, so will just use the memes) is deep in white grievance land. Some of it is very justified. He told us where his distrust of one American political party started. While he is wrong, I will not do more than say I get it. But he is the victim of these antics.

Then we get to Senator Mike Lee of Utah. The Junior Senator decided to run some polls, primarily for his base. First off, X polls are not scientific. Second, he managed to get the attention of NAFO. He was not the only one to run these polls. Let’s say both polls went badly, from their point of view. He also linked to grade A-Russian propaganda.
