After reading a shit tone into this, we all must cut down or cut out of our lives added sugars and processed foods. I cannot stress this enough. Weight loss (or gain) has nada to do with CICO. It has all to do with hyper-insulemia, which is caused by the standard American diet, which has become standard globally.

Yes, portions matter. Yes, food choices matter. But the first step is to understand why this is happening and as long as your insulin is too high, you are going to have a hell of a time losing weight. It is the insulin resistance stupid.

Incidentally… I went down that rabbit hole after my doc said, possibly fatty liver. Gee, fructose acts in the liver the same way as alcohol.

I lost fifty pounds the old fashioned way, with CICO, and got stuck, because of set point. I started eating (against all the guidelines for a diabetic by the way), a high fat, low carb diet. Guess what is happening? I am starting to lose my need for insulin, and I am starting to shed pounds again.

Incidentally, I am not a rare unicorn, and sugar is highly addictive.

Oh and after all that reading, I still use LoseIt every day. I care little about the calories, since a calorie is not a calorie. But I track sugars. I wish they made it granular enough where it would track added sugars and natural sugars separate from each other, I can do simple math.

I also track fiber, cause I need to feed my gut.
