After a ton of reading, because my doctor suggested fatty liver, talk of a rabbit hole…once I got the physiology it was a no brainer. I was already off breads due to a severe gluten intolerance. It was not quite celiacs, but might have been from all the symptoms.
At one point I replaced some of that with gluten free products. But…I started removing all processed foods, as in commercial cereals, granolas, and the rest.
What angers me is that I was given the precise wrong advise for thirty plus years…to manage diabetes. No fasting, I am actually doing IF now. Eat somewhat low carb…it’s ok if you go over, medicines. I am eating low carb.
I have more energy, and my insulin needs are dropping. It can be reversed, and the knowledge of what I will avoid is good enough for me. Breakfast is my most carbs for the day…and added sugars are down to 3 grams, my dark chocolate and the muesli I add for crunch.
What I am using to reverse sugar lows (yes, they have that much added sugars and they are the better choice in the cereal aisle) are Cheerios.
For me it was a no brainer to cut the carbs. But then again, when I understood what wheat products were doing to my body, it was Pavlovian. You can have in front of me the best pizza, or cake, or bread in the world. They are hardly appealing.
