After 911 the country wanted revenge. The mission into Afghanistan was supposed to be limited and with a limited goal. Literally, it was to capture or kill Osama Bin Ladin and degrade Al Qaida. This mission was an obvious one, albeit from the beginning there were problems. Some came from the lack of understanding of Afghani culture, some came from American hubris.
