A Warrant was Served on Trump

The news broke overnight. The FBI served a warrant at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. It was for the boxes of classified material still in the former president's hands.

If a warrant was issued, I am positive it met the Borden of proof needed from the court. What is telling, though, is the not at all unexpected reaction from the former president's fans.

Over the last twenty-four hours, we have seen them tell us the DOJ and the FBI are politicized. We are told the former president is the victim. Worse, the former president is above the law.

Remember, this had to be approved by a judge. Because this is sensitive, it was likely approved at the highest levels of the Justice Department and the FBI. The reaction is what is dangerous.

Calls for violence

This was so shocking to the far right that soon after the news broke, talk of a civil war started. These people are sure this crosses the line, and the only way to stop this excess is to pick up arms.

If January 6 had not occurred, we would even say it was rhetorically dangerous, but sure, go on. After the events of January six, none of this can be taken as just heated language.

This has not been just perfect unknowns on social media. Though there are plenty of those on Telegram, 4chan, and Twitter. We are talking of members of Congress, governors, and candidates for office. These are not just nobodies posting angry words online.
