A Letter to the Democratic Party
Yes, I am very frustrated — not with every Democrat, but quite a bit of the Democratic leadership. Voting for Cloture in the Senate was crazy, but it’s part of a pattern. Democratic leadership is missing the moment by a stellar unit or two. When dealing with authoritarians, norms are gone.
Here is the big clue of the day. Those norms were burned to a cinder on January 6 2020 at the latest. Leadership continues to act as if they are friendly, and MAGA will be nice. I won’t say Republican any longer. Decent ones left the party a while ago.
But this is not about MAGA. It’s about the Chuck Schummers of the world, who still live in fantasy. It’s about political strategists who have also failed you and the nation.
It’s about your messaging.
Yes, I know what the Biden administration did to help regular folks. Any political nerd knows this. Key term, nerd. Do you know why messaging fails Democrats? I will give you an example. Insulin. Yes, it dropped to 35 dollars a vial, closer in price to a global average. Why did Americans not notice? Trust me, you did if you were on insulin. But nobody else did. Why? Democrats fail the most basic of messaging. You don’t tell people that insulin has dropped in price. You give them concrete examples of people who benefited. You know Mildred, who can now afford her insulin, or sue…
