1917 Redux?
The Russian army is crumbling. Russian forces are surrendering in Kherson. This means that a large contingent, over 10, O00 Russian troops, are now going into captivity.
This is a happy logistics problem. Go into a POW camp, and get sleep for the first time in months. Get a warm meal, medical care, and maybe clean clothes. Give them books, and chess sets, to keep busy, and let them call home and write letters home.
This will encourage others to do the rational thing. It will save lives. Realize, negotiations started yesterday, and today it is happening.
But this is part of a bigger pattern. According to Volymedia, the Russian army is crumbling.
The Russian Armed Forces were forced to abandon the defense of the northern part of the Luhansk region a few hours after the retreat from Kupyansk. At the same time, some units were ordered to move to the villages north of Svatovo. A couple of hours later, the order was canceled. But at least one motorized rifle battalion from this area could not be recalled later. Nothing is known about the fate of more than 300 Russian military personnel, including conscripts. There has been no connection with them for two days.
